Ngorongoro Crater

The jewel in the crown of Ngorongoro is a deep volcanic crater, the world’s largest unflooded and unbroken caldera. With a diameter of about 20 km, a depth of 600 meters and an area of 300 km2, the Ngorongoro Crater is a breathtaking natural wonder.
The Ngorongoro Crater is one of the most famous sites in Africa and is said to be home to the highest density of wildlife on the continent. Sometimes described as the “eighth wonder of the world,” the crater has gained worldwide recognition, attracting increasing numbers of visitors each year. You are unlikely to escape other vehicles here, but you are guaranteed to see wildlife in a truly breathtaking environment. There is no other place in Africa like Ngorongoro!

Location: 150 km northwest of Arusha.
How to get there: About 3h30 drive from Arusha, or by plane.
